They assembled easily - so easily that my 5 year old and 9 year old were able to "assist" me. I piled up each with a 1/2 cord of wood. The racks show no indication of bending or flimsiness. The finish seems quite durable. My issue is that the advertisement leads you to believe that you are ordering the long rack because that is the only picture shown. After going back and closely looking I realized that there are two size racks for sale and that we did order and receive the small one.
