We use these to start every wood fire we have, which is almost every night, and they are terrific. They eliminate the need for wads of newspaper to start the fire and they never fail. They were delivered promptly. I have found that they can be divided into smaller segments, halves or even thirds and still get a fire going depending on the condition of the wood you are starting. Great product. So I decided to give them a try. My mistake. This product is utterly useless for wood stoves. No matter how I tried to place the logs according to instructions, this stuff took forever to get the fire going - when it did. I timed one fire that finally got going and it took over an hour. However, mostly these things just fizzle out and leave a couple of smoking logs with charred sides. They work OK if I use kindling, but I can start a fire just as fast with kindling using matches. Matches are a lot cheaper. BTW my stove has excellent draft. I know this from setting the kindling fires and a lot of experience with wood burning stoves and furnaces. Draft could not have been a problem with Firestart in this stove. If you have a woodstove, save your money and try something else, or use matches and kindling like I do...
